Piotr Hausenplas

Piotr Hausenplas, the cellist, studied at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in the classes of Andrzej Zieliński and Kazimierz Michalik. In 1987 he won second prize winner at the Dezyderiusz Danczowski Polish National Competition for Cellists in Poznań, organized by the Henryk Wieniawski Musical Society in Poznań. In 1993 he won the Grand Prix at the Ludwig van Beethoven Competition for Cellists in Hradec in the Czech Republic, where he was also awarded prizes for the best performance of works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Bohuslav Martinu. During that competition he also won the prizes for the best interpretation of Ludwig van Beethoven’s and Bohuslav Martinu’s works. He has been giving concerts as a soloist and a chamber musician for many years. He has performed with a number of orchestras such as the Concerto Avenna, the Camerata Academia, the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw, the Leos Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra in Ostrava and the Zielona Góra Philharmonic Orchestra. He regularly collaborates with many outstanding Polish musicians like Barbara Halska, Edward Wolanin, Katarzyna Duda and Magdalena Szczepanowska. He has made numerous archival recordings for the Polish Radio (with Beethoven's and Britten’s sonatas). In November 2009 he got a postdoctoral degree of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. Piotr Hausenplas is also a soloist of the National Opera Orchestra in Warsaw.
